Expert Apostille / Authentication & Legalization Document Services
NotaryPro can notarize your documents effectively per the requirements of Authentication & Legalization and Apostille. Only government authorities can issue the Authentication & Legalization or Apostille Certificate. All documents requiring Authentication & Legalization or Apostille must be signed in wet ink in order to be submitted due to current requirements under Federal Legislation. Documents being submitted for Authentication & Legalization and Apostille cannot be signed electronically.
Our partners can assist with the Authentication & Legalization or Apostille of any Canadian-issued document for you. We work closely with all Provincial Competent Authorities, Embassies, and Consulates across Canada to process documents for international use.
Under the new Apostille Hague Convention, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Quebec can unilaterally certify documents, through the respective provincial document services, used by Canadians working or living abroad. The remaining provinces and territories will continue to submit documents to Global Affairs Canada (GAC), which will continue to handle the certification process.
For all provinces, Authentication & Legalization or an Apostille certificate will verify the authenticity of a Canadian-issued public document, making it easier for Canadians to have these documents recognized abroad.

Common Questions on Apostille Certification & Legalization
What is an Apostille Certification?
An Apostille certification authenticates the signatures and seals of officials on public documents, like birth certificates, court orders, and more. These officials have the authority to execute, issue, or certify documents — so that if they are certified in one jurisdiction, they may be recognized in another jurisdiction.
Designated Competent Authorities issue an Apostille Certificate, which authenticates a wide range of documentation. However, Apostille certificates do not certify the genuineness, legality or credibility of a document or its contents.
Are documents issued outside of Canada eligible for authentication?
Do authenticated documents destined for Hague signatory countries require legalization at consulates or embassies?
Authenticated documents going to Hague signatory countries might not require legalization at consulates or embassies. Please verify document requirements with your consulate, embassy, and/or end destination recipient.
